Organic Law 1/2025 of 2 January, on measures for the efficiency of the Public Justice Service, has already been approved. In its twenty-first Final Provision, it modifies Law 4/2013 on entrepreneurs, leaving without content articles 63, 64, 65, 66 and 67 from that Law, which authorizes the residence of investors for the purchase of property of more than 500,000 euros (Golden Visa) and family members.

This new Law will enter into force “three months after its publication in the Official State Gazette – BOE-” (Thirty-eighth Final Provision). Therefore, no new Golden visa investor or family of investor applications visas will be accepted from April 3, 2025.

With regard to visa applications submitted before April 2, 2025, these may be accepted as long as the applicant meets the current requirements and all the documents are provided, since the First Transitional Provision establishes that: “Those investors or family members of investors who, prior to the date of entry into force of this transitional provision, have submitted the corresponding application, may receive the corresponding visa or authorization in accordance with the regulations in force on the date of submission of the application.”

Likewise, visa and authorization renewals for investors for the acquisition of real estate are permitted as long as the requirements for this are still met and they are processed within the deadline of the renewal: 60 days in advance of he expiry date or 90 days after, since the Second Transitional Provision establishes that: “Visas and authorizations for investors that are valid on the date of entry into force of this transitional provision will retain said validity for the time for which they were issued.

In the event of renewal applications being submitted, they will be processed and resolved in accordance with the regulations in force on the date of granting of the initial authorization.”
